集美文教区西至杏滨路，东至天马山、高速路连接线，北至厦漳泉高速路，南至集杏海堤，总用地面积约32平方公里。文教区以学校为主体，结合近邻的杏林北部新城区和集美北部新城区，包括了旅游、居住、休闲、科研等多种职能，是学、研、住一体化的综合性城市区域，是满足集美乃至整个厦门市特色大型公建、生态旅游服务需求的厦门新市区。文教区的建成将极大地推动厦门教育事业发展，使其成为厦门教育之城的重要支撑点，从而大大提高城市总体素质和文化品位，将成为闽东南地区重要的科教核心和中央智力区。目前，除集美大学外，华侨大学和厦门理工学院校区正在建设中，厦门软件学院、华夏技术学院和其他高校也将相继进入文教区。此外，厦门园博会也选址于文教区内。

 

 

       Jimei Culture and Education Zone
       Jimei Culture and Education Zone is designed to cover an area of about 32 square kilometers, with Xingbin Road to the west, Tianma Mountain and the joint of highways to the east, and with Quanzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou Expressways to the  north, as well as Jimei-Xinglin sea walls to the south. Depending on schools as its main body,  the zone，together with  North Xinglin New Residential Zone and North Jimei New Residential Zone nearby, includes tourism, habitation, entertainment, scientific research and other functions. It is an all-around zone with integrative study, research and habitation, and it is also a new zone to meet the demand of Jimei, even of whole Xiamen, for large distinctive public works and ecotypic tourism service. The Zone will greatly promote the development of education in Xiamen, make it become the important support of Xiamen City of Education, and raise the whole diathesis and cultural taste of Xiamen. It will be the important research and education center and Central Intelligence District (CID) in the southeast area of Fujian. Currently, except Jimei University, Huaqiao University and Xiamen University of Technology are under construction, and Xiamen Institute of Software , Huaxia Institute of Technology and other high schools will enter the zone soon. In addition, Xiamen Gardening Exposition has also been located in the zone.
